Forging Relationships Within the Legal Community
Of the many complaints we hear from other attorneys, three really stand out:
- They are unable to handle certain matters due to complexity or time constraints;
- Their time is stretched thin because there are certain aspects of a case that require an attorney’s attention but they either don’t want to or can’t afford to hire a full-time associate; and
- They wish they had someone to bounce ideas off of in challenging cases.
Matthew D. Zimmelman, Esq. has been handling consumer bankruptcy and foreclosure matters for over ten years and has appeared in bankruptcy courts throughout the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York and state courts on Long Island and in the five boroughs. He previously worked as the senior associate and managing attorney at multiple busy law firms representing debtors and homeowners.
Over the years, he has often been asked to cover appearances and help strategize over a motion or other litigation and makes himself available to fellow attorneys to discuss challenging cases. He regularly appears in court, attends relevant local CLEs, and is known among the bankruptcy bar and bankruptcy courts.
Mr. Zimmelman is always looking to build relationships with other attorneys and firms and to offer assistance as needed or on a long-term basis. He skillfully makes court appearances but offers more than just per-diem appearances including:
- Chapter 7 and 13 petition review
- Review of Chapter 13 plans and creditor claims
- Drafting bankruptcy motions including but not limited to lien strips, voiding unsecured second mortgages, plan modifications, and objections to claims
